Description

The bird tower at Illersjö wetland is located about 500 meters from the parking lot at Illersjö farm. As the interest in bird watching has increased greatly, Motala municipality wanted to make it possible for everyone to practice it. The bird tower is therefore built with a ramp that allows wheelchairs and prams to come up. The guardrail on top of the platform has been fitted with a sink, which means that even seated people have a good view of the wetland. Next to the bird tower there is also an accessible picnic table for wheelchairs. At the wetland, unusual bird species such as Great Egret, Marsh Sandpiper and Blyth’s Reed Warbler have been seen. Ring-necked Duck. Black-tailed Godwit and Black Kite have also been observed in the area. The wetland is an important resting place for several species such as Hen Harrier, Ruff and Common Greenshank. Do not forget to look for beavers and otters when you go to and from the bird tower!
