Description

Djurgårdsbrunn Canal was built in 1825–34 on the initiative of Karl XIV Johan, not only to facilitate transport, but also as part of the King’s project to make Djurgården more attractive. Thinning out the vegetation, drainage, planting noble deciduous trees and creating walking paths created the pastoral landscape we see today.
