Description
Lake Jerttalompolo is best known for its nesting smews. They live in nest boxes that have been arranged along the shoreline and on the island in the middle of the lake. Approach carefully near the shore if you want to see them; they are extremely timid and easily scared. The forest around the lake is easily hiked. There is also a stream – Jerttajoki – with surrounding mires. The area is 0.7 square kilometres. Note that snowmobiles are banned, and it is forbidden to light a fire. For part of the year it is also forbidden to hunt grouse and fish with a net. Contact the County Administrative Board website for more information.

Parking
There is a little car park close to the road that passes south of the nature reserve. From the car park a trail leads as far as the lake.
Communications
Jerttalompolo lies about 1 kilometre northwest of Dokkas. The reserve is most easily reached from road 394 towards Ullatti and Tärendö. The south part of the reserve here reaches as far as the road where you are close to several of the finest parts of the area.
Directions
Jerttalompolo ligger cirka 1 kilometer nordost om Dokkas. Reservatet nås lättast från väg 394 mot Ullatti och Tärendö. Reservatets södra del går här ända fram till vägen och man har nära till flera av områdets finaste delar.

Alla föreskrifter finns i reservatsbeslutet. Det är tillåtet att:
- tälta
- vandra
- plocka bär och matsvamp
Tänk på att det i Jerttalompolo inte är tillåtet att:
- köra snöskoter
- elda
- jaga fågel eller nät fiska under vissa tider på året.
Föreskrifterna är till för att skydda det känsliga fågellivet kring sjön. Det är inte tillåtet att skada växt- och djurliv. Tänk på allemansrätten och var rädd om naturen!
