Here you can hike in the forest and on the mire. There are trails with plankways around the area. The plankway is a bit worn down at places, so boots are recommended (June 2020). The vast mire Joukhaisenjänkkä (Whooper Swan mire) is a good place for birdwatching. The area is 1.6 square kilometres and snowmobiles are only allowed on designated snowmobile trails.
Tervajänkkä lies about 8 kilometres from Haparanda town centre. A logging road passes the east side of the reserve. You reach the logging road from the south if you turn off the E4 at Viiki, and drive northwards to the road between road 99 and Lake Iso Karsikkojärvi.
