Description

From the Vistas cabin, the path follows the east bank of Visttasjohka stream to a suspension bridge across the stream. The trail to Kaskasavagge valley crosses the bridge here. After the suspension bridge, the path continues through birch forest and across brush moors. The path can be fairly indistinct closest to Visttasjohka. The hike winds up steep sections through willow undergrowth along the slope of Palkastak until above the tree line. After a climb of 400 m, Njunni plateau is reached, with a beautiful view over Visttasvággi. Here the hiking is easy, and after the plateau, a downhill slope. The view is excellent of summits that include Kaskasatjåkko and Niibáš. Kaskasavagge stopover cabin is right next to the suspension bridge across Gaskkasjohka.

There are good tent pitches at the bridges across Visttasjohka and Gaskkasjohka, and in the north area of Njunni plateau.

The marked trail ends at the stopover cabin. It is possible to continue the hike south towards Tarfala. One recommended route is marked on the mountain map from the suspension bridge. Remember that you are in a high alpine environment and the weather can quickly change.
