Description

Explore the reserve from this easy 6 km hiking trail loop that starts at Sundby gård farm. You'll walk along gravel roads and paths through an ancient agricultural landscape that has been cultivated since the 15th century. Parts of the trail take you through forests as well as along the coastline, and you'll pass by historical sights such as the old oaks of Mane meadow and the ruins of Sundby manor, which was burned down by the Russians in 1719.

  • By public transit: ** Take a bus with SL to Dalarö/Hotellbryggan and then a ferry to Ornö. Bus 889 departs from the ferry terminal to Sundby, Ornö. For current travel times and information, see [sl.se] (http://sl.se/en).

** By car: ** Take the Ornö car ferry from Dalarö/Hotellbryggan. Once on Ornö, follow the main road south to Sundby. Pass Sundby gård farm and then turn left shortly after the sign for the reserve parking lot, "Naturreservat P". The parking lot is on the left.

Regulations

In order to protect the Sundby nature reserve, please respect the following rules.

Within the reserve, it is forbidden to:

  1. destroy or damage permanent natural structures or surfaces by drilling, cutting, blasting, carving, painting or similar,
  2. break branches, fell or in any other way damage living or dead trees and bushes or damage the vegetation in general by digging up plants, such as shrubs, herbaceous plants, mosses or lichens,
  3. disturb wildlife (e.g. by climbing nesting trees, trapping or killing mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians),
  4. bring unleashed dogs or cats,
  5. camp for more than two consecutive nights in the same place or moor a boat for more than two consecutive nights at the same beach,
  6. make a fire,
  7. arrange competitions, orienteering events, camps or similar within zones 1 and 2B (see the map in the reserve proclamation, in Swedish).
