Tiken Runt

Around Tiken is a nice bike ride on asphalt and gravel and the small rest area south of the Tiken is an excellent place to stop and enjoy the lunch pack or your coffee.

Road description

Preferably start at Tingsryd Resort. Follow the bicycle path next to the camping site Tingsryd Resort, turn left by the sign towards Stenfors and continue your way south on the west side of lake Tiken. In Törnamåla turn left at the sign to "Sjövägen". Now you will go through forest on a smaller gravel road and pass by a beautiful picnic area with barbeque at the southern end of the lake. Just a few hundred meters ahead you will see Stenfors bruk. During the 17th century this was an active iron works area. Everything people needed to produce iron could be found in the area: iron ore from lake Tiken, forests for producing charcoal and water power from the river Bräkneån. Today this is a very scenic area a nice spot for a picnic. There is also an interesting cultural trail to hike in the nature. Continue north on the eastern side of the lake, at the sign towards Älganäs you can take a detour to an beautiful nature reserve and then continue on the road until you reach the exit for road 27. (Observe the traffic situation on road 27! Along road 27, a lot of traffic, including heavy trucks, travels at speeds around 90 km/h and if you are cycling with children, this distance should be avoided due to this traffic situation. However, there are sketches and proposals for a separate cycle path for this section which we hope can become a reality in the future.) Turn left and follow the road for a short while, then turn right to Tingsryd Travet. Take the bicycle path back to the center. You are passing by Kungastenarna, a monument from royal visits. Follow the bike path, which is parallel to road 27, back to Tingsryd Resort. The tour is on smaller asphalt roads as well as gravel roads. The route is marked.
