Beschreibung

Lynx are at home on the steep and large rock slopes just north of the mountain cabin and wolverine often use its hunting zone nearby. A quiet moment looking out from the cabin window can, with some luck, give you a reward that you will not soon forget.

A natural outing during the summer is to experience the roaring rapids of the Tarra River, about one kilometre from the cabin. Follow the Padjelanta Trail north until you hear the rapids at their loudest. Then turn west. The river races out from here into a deeply carved canyon.

If you want to experience it alone, make your way over with the ferry and go up towards Fierrovagge Valley. A small detour at the tip of Vuosák provides you with a view several kilometres down into the Tarra Valley.

A tough challenge, via Såmmargårsså just north-east of the cabin, is to go up to the bare mountain region and further on to the peak of Måskásgájsse, 1,724 m.a.s.l. The view of the Tarra Valley below and the high mountains of Sarek to the north are worthy reward for all the effort of getting up. If you’re fortunate enough to get here with skis in the winter, the only thing to do is congratulate you on an exceptional run back to the cabin.

This is how it works in a mountain cabin
Our mountain cabins offer a simple and authentic stay in multi-bedded rooms with self catering. The rooms are different sizes with bunk beds and usually heated by gas stoves. On site you will be greeted by a cabin manager. As a guest you chop wood, fetch water from the stream or lake, wash up and clean up after youself.

STF Såmmarlappa is located about 36 kilometers west of Kvikkjokk and is the third cabin on the Padjelantaleden trail that goes all the way to Ritsem. In summer, you can only reach the start of the trail by taking a boat on Tarraälven. The hiking distance from Kvikkjokk to Såmmarlappa is around 33 km.
