Description

Eriksbergsleden Trail

Eriksbergsleden is one of the most beautiful and challenging trails in Blekinge, offering stunning views over the coastline and the sea. Along the route, you’ll pass through oak, beech, and pine forests. The trail runs close to the Eriksberg Wildlife and Nature Park, and since the path follows the fence line of the park, you might be lucky enough to spot some of the animals inside. The trail is marked with orange signs on posts and trees.

The shores of Eriksberg mainly consist of rocky cliffs. In crevices and areas with deeper soil, denser groves of trees grow — ranging from alder swamps to beech heath forests.

Eriksbergsleden combines two older trails: Kohageleden, which started near the entrance to Eriksberg in the northeast, and Allböleleden, which began at Björnahemmet in the southwest. The two have been connected by a couple of spectacular bridges linking Dragsö Island to the mainland.

Kohageleden features beautiful beech forests that reach all the way down to the water’s edge and also climbs high up on cliffs with breathtaking views. The trail starts at the Eriksberg entrance (Outdoor Eriksberg) and leads to the small croft Kohagen.

Allböleleden starts at the entrance to the Eriksbergs Stränder Nature Reserve, by Björnahemmet, and continues out to Allböle, where you’ll enjoy views of Hanö and the open horizon. Along the way, you’ll pass a spectacular rest area by the new boardwalk over Bruksviken Bay. As you hike, you’ll also experience a mix of industrial heritage, military history, remnants of old crofts, fascinating natural features, and the Blekinge archipelago.

Hiking along Eriksbergsleden can be quite demanding at times, from either direction, but the reward is magnificent sea views. The total distance is about 12.2 km, marked with orange symbols on posts and trees. There are several barbecue and rest areas along the route.

At present, the trail is not a circular route — you’ll need to return the same way if you park at one of the two starting points. Many hikers leave a bicycle at Björnahemmet (where parking is more limited than at Outdoor Eriksberg). When the hike is finished, one person in the group cycles back to pick up the car and returns to collect the others.

Transport through Eriksberg Wildlife Park

It’s now easier to experience the entire Eriksbergsleden!Eriksberg offers transport through the safari park – from Outdoor Eriksberg to Björnahemmet. From there, you can start your hike eastward along the trail and finish back at Outdoor Eriksberg.

Important to know

Please note that the trail is not accessible for wheelchairs or strollers and includes many steep and uneven sections that can be slippery when wet. Some parts of the route follow narrow boardwalks.

For a shorter walk with a taste of Eriksbergsleden, start at Björnahemmet and walk to Tegelbruket, where there’s a barbecue area. Along the way, you’ll cross the new boardwalk over Bruksviken. The distance is about 1.5 km one way, suitable for families with children (though not accessibility-adapted).

🚫 Note: It is not permitted to drive your own car through Eriksberg Wildlife Park to access or hike Eriksbergsleden.Parking is available at Outdoor Eriksberg and at Björnahemmet, the two official starting points of the trail.

Activities And Facilities

  • Hiking Hiking

Surface

The first part up to the Allböleleden trail itself is a gravel road, then a small path.

Hills

Eriksbergsleden is a very hilly hiking experience by Blekinge standards.

Vegetation

Many sections with steep slopes, rocky outcrops, stone sections, paths, bridges and footbridges to cross.

Parking

For parking cars, we recommend the parking lot at Eriksbergs outdoor. There is also a parking lot for a small number of cars at Björnahemmet, but as it is often full, it is best suited for drop-off/pick-up.

Feel free to leave a bike at Björnahemmet and cycle back to the car you left at Eriksbergs outdoor.
