The Kungsbron bridge used to be the “formal entrance” to the town when it was most natural to approach Karlskrona by sea.
Many royal personages have come ashore here and this is also where the boundary between the military and the civilian town is most clearly seen. The original plan was to encircle the whole of military Karlskrona with a wall but the work was never completed.
Bastion Aurora, which is part of the former fortifications surrounding the naval shipyard, is often open for various events, e.g. music concerts.
Here there is a bust of Erik Dahlberg, the town’s founder. There is also a statue of Hans Wachtmeister.
Kungsbron is part of the Naval Port of Karlskrona, inscribed on UNESCO’s list of unmissable World Heritage Sites in 1998.
