Description
Welcome to our home! Turistgården Särna was built as an infirmary at the end of the 19th century. After serving as the office and residence of the village doctor, it was turned into an STF hostel in the 70s. We are now restoring the building to its former glory, renovating it with complete respect for its history. Turistgården is a charming house with large windows, high ceilings and old detailing.
We always cook with local, seasonal ingredients, and we are delighted to work closely with local food producers who provide us with the most wonderful ingredients. We bake sourdough and thin bread fresh for breakfast every day, and the crisp bread is supplied by the marvelous Skedvi Bakery. Our cheeses and other dairy products are made at Hansjö Mejeri and the reindeer meat from Renbiten. Give us a call if you’d like to know tonight's menu!
In summer, you can enjoy coffee or lunch at our garden cafe, where you can also buy bread and other goodies to take home!
We are originally from a small village outside Utrecht in the Netherlands, but we have finally found our dream home here in the heart of picturesque Särna, with the goal of creating a homely and welcoming oasis for anyone who wants to get away for a while but still feel at home. After eight years on Stockholm's restaurant scene, our ambition is to complement a homely accommodation with a fantastic meal focused on local seasonal ingredients.
Welcome to Turistgården Särna! Mieke, Jacco, Olle and Noah.
Check-in between 16:00 and 22:00. Dinner is served from 18:00 to 20:00, advance booking is appreciated! Check-out no later than 11:00.

Directions
Turistgården Särna is located along National Road 70 and is easy to find. Both Fulufjället National Park and Idre are about 20 minutes away by car. Grövelsjön to the north and Sälen to the south are both about an hour away by car. You can reach Mora after 1.5 hours, and Stockholm is about six hours away by care, while Gothenburg is seven hours away. We have plenty of free parking and five minutes' walk from the house there are EV charging points.
Bus 396 is a great way to get here form Mora, a very scenic two-hour journey with nice views. The same bus takes you to Idre in about 30 minutes. On some days there are also buses from Fulufjället to here - call us if you want help booking the bus!
You can also get here on bicycle. The "European divide trail" bicycle path passes us. We are avid cyclists ourselves (Mieke actually ended up in Sweden on a bicycle, many years ago), so we are extra happy to welcome cycling guests. We have basic tools and a bike pump available, as well facilities for cleaning your bike. You can also lock your bike indoors.
