Björkasjöstigen

Älmebjär consists of a hill with slopes down towards Björkasjö. Beech forest dominates and many of the trees are very old. Unusual species that require a specific habitat thrive in this environment.

Björkekullen Nature Reserve Four generations have lived and worked at the croft, clearing land and cultivating crops. Well-kept stone fences, mighty cairns, impressive retaining walls and unusual terraced plantations are evidence of diligence and joy in work. Björkekullen has been farmed by the same family since 1846. The two brothers August and Johan have done most of the work of breaking new ground. They expanded the farm's arable area from two to twelve acres. A self-guiding cultural trail tells the history of the croft.

Svartrå Church This medieval church has survived several planned demolitions. The chancel has been extended to the east at various times. The baptismal font is thought to date from the end of the 13th century. The church is best known for its remarkable 18th-century ceiling paintings. There is Creation and the Trinity, scenes from the Old Testament and the life of Jesus, and behind the organ the Evil One plays cards with the lost.
