Description

Forsheda Parish Church. The first church was built in the early 14th century, replacing the court that had been there. The current building dates from 1867 and is modelled on drawings by the architect Ludvig Hedin. The church was consecrated in 1869 and is built in an empirical architectural style that is a continuation of neoclassicism.

It is a single-nave whitewashed hall church. There is a nave with a marked and rounded sanctuary to the east and a steeple to the west, crowned with a lantern and cross. The vestry is extended in the northern part of the church. The nave, sanctuary and gable roofs are covered with shingles, while the steeple is clad in copper sheet. Inside, much of the original interior remains and the character of the church interior is well preserved.

The artefacts of cultural-historical interest in the church include the old christening font from the 13th century. The more recent christening font inside the church was designed by Bent Jörgen Jörgensen, a well-known architect in the 1950s. The crucifix is from the 17th century and the retable is from the early 18th century.
