Description

Hånger Parish Church. The current church was consecrated in 1881, replacing an older church that existed in Hånger’s abandoned cemetery.

The church is built in a neoclassical and empirical style, characterised by large volumes with few embellishments.

The building materials are stone and brick. The façades are rough cast in white. The church is built in an east-west direction with a sanctuary to the east and a steeple and main entrance to the west.

The building consists of a rectangular nave with a gable roof of folded sheet metal. The sanctuary to the east is round. The vestry is located near the sanctuary on the north side. The steeple to the west has a high spire crowned with a cross.

Inside the church there is a sandstone christening font from the second half of the 12th century that is the work of the Njudung group, which was active in parts of Småland. There is also an altarpiece from 1882 by the church painter Ludvig Frid.
