Description
Värnamo Sport Fishing Club was founded on 26 April 1961 and is also responsible for Lake Kalvsjön.
Outside the small town of Ohs in Värnamo municipality in Småland is Lake Kalvsjön. With its unique insect fauna, excellent fish quality, and wonderful surroundings, this is perhaps one of Sweden’s best waters (give or take).
A large number of rainbow salmon are released into the lake every year, and the lake is home to a self-spawning stock of trout. Kalvsjön also has a fly named after it, the Kalvsjösländan, an effective pattern created by club member Arne Fransson. You can read more about the specific fly here: Kalvsjöländan
The lake is open to licensed anglers between 15 May and 30 September. You must buy a fishing licence to fish in the lake. You can read more about how to get a licence and which rules apply here: Fishing in Kalvsjön.
There are a number of jetties around Kalvsjön, and excellent wading spots in between them, which are often used by our knowledgeable fly-fishing visitors. Familiarise yourself with the lake and see pictures of the various jetties here.
A warm welcome to Kalvsjön!
