Description
Eketorpsleden is a 1.6 km long hiking trail starting at Eketorps castle, the southernmost of Öland's ancient castles. Eketorp Castle, a reconstructed ancient castle, is strategically located in the middle of the Stora alvaret.
The trail goes through the pastures west of the ancient castle and the visitor centre, follow the signs from the stand at the visitor centre to start the walk. The trail is marked with cairns and runs mainly over the flat limestone plateau, and is therefore relatively easy to walk. If you are interested in geocaching, there are several hiding places along the trail. In summer, the alvar land is grazed by free-ranging animals.
The trail is easy to get to and at the visitor centre (open in summer) there is parking, toilets and information about the trail and the World Heritage Site.
