Description
On Oknö you walk on well-trodden paths, accompanied by the sea. Here you can also swim, fish, and watch birds. There are plenty of outdoor recreational facilities, such as grill areas and a wind shelter.
The Oknöleden Trail is 8.7 kilometres long and takes you around Lillön and Storön. The Ramsöleden Trail is 2.7 kilometres long and goes around Ramsö. There are also other, smaller footpaths in the area.
Walk along the coast
The Oknöleden Trail offers a long walk along the shores of Lillön and Storön. Take a break at some of the beautifully located rest areas. In the distance you can see Öland and the characteristic silhouette of Borgholm Castle ruins. The trail is also perfect for a coastal jogging round.
Worth a visit all year round
Oknö is a popular summer destination. There are no less than six bathing places to choose from! One example is Gamla färjeläget, a seaside beach with a deep-water jetty, outdoor showers, and beach volley court. Some like to try their fishing luck along the coast.
But a visit at other times of the year is also recommended. In spring and autumn sea birds migrate through Kalmar Strait, and waders rest in the secluded bays. You may even see a seal if you gaze out across the sea Don’t forget to bring binoculars!
