Description

Here on Brånäset in Agunnarydssjön is a medieval castle complex from the end of the 13th century. After a minor archaeological investigation in the 1990s, we know that the facility consisted of a main building on two floors, a courtyard chapel and a stable or storehouse. Agundaborg has for some time been a private residence for a canon at Linköping Cathedral.

According to tradition, Agunda Hake in Brånanäs was a Christian woman at the beginning of the 11th century, who worked here and built the parish's first church.

The secluded location of the houses on the promontory and finds of window glass are some of the things that show that the facility has been significantly more exclusive than an ordinary farm.
