Description

To the west of this trail, Braås Ridge parallels both Lake Örken and the old narrow-gauge railway. Several years ago, the railway was transformed into the popular walking trail that offers unusual butterflies and rare plants, such as alpine bastard toadflax. Great crested grebes nest amongst the reeds of Benderviken inlet,. The nostalgic steamboat pier offers a wide view of the inlets and islands of Lake Örken. This area features greylag geese, Canada geese and ospreys, as well as red-breasted mergansers, goosanders and common terns. Close to the pier, there is also the medieval church of Sjösås and the Braås open air museum.
