Description

Although Lake Helgasjön' greenest island is within biking distance from Växjö, all the sounds of the city seem so far away. Instead, you'll be greeted by quiet strolling paths and unobtrusive beaches. Walking around this island take from one to two hours. Glisteningly green beech forests alternate with spruce, pine and oak. The eastern part of Hissö island has small hidden bathing coves with soft sandy bottoms. Black-throated divers and sandpipers can be found along the shores of Lake Helgasjön. Black woodpeckers, hawfinches, wood warblers and chiffchaffs belong to this forest. In the winter, Hissö island makes a fine starting point for a skating or skiing tour to the many islands in Lake Helgasjön. The trail around Hissö island, only, has a total length of 3.8 kilometres, whilst the extension to Musön island increases the total length by 1.5 kilometres.
