Description
Hökhult nature reserve is located by the southern shore of Lake Möckeln, just northwest of Älmhult. The reserve contains beech forest, mixed deciduous forest, deciduous swamp forest and wooded pastures. The area has long been characterized by human presence. In several places there are remains in form of special cutted trees, cairns and stone walls.
Hökhult is one of the municipality's smaller nature reserves but still contains many fine natural values worth protecting. Especially the northern part with beech trees which slopes down into the lake is a nice section well worth a visit with a coffee thermos. Directions: Hökhult is located just northeast of central Älmhult and is most easily reached from road 592 between Älmhult and Pjätteryd, which passes just west of the reserve. From road 592 you reach the reserve by turning onto the private road between Hökhult, Sjöastadbygd and Boastad that runs through the reserve.
