Description

Past Present Future

Artist: Sven-Ingvar Johansson (1962 - )

Location: Lidhult, in the park in front of the civic center

Year: 2004

The artwork Past Present Future is divided into the different parts Lidhultlyftet, Stonelifter, Past Present Future and Forward and symbolizes Lidhult's history and future.

The large letters of the Lidhult lift are made of strong iron beams scattered in "hult", an old word for grove of trees. The abstract, aspiring shape symbolizes a shimmering future.

The stone lifter bends his back over a large stone and shows that Lidhult's foundation is properly built up by strong backs. The stones have been lifted up lots of "lid", the older word for slopes.

Past Present Future is a concrete pyramid with three copper books. The first book symbolizes Lidhult's old history and a hand belonging to a very old man rests against the book.

The second book symbolizes the time up to the day when the monument was inaugurated in 2004 and it is the artist's own hand that symbolizes today's man.

The third book, Framtidens book, is a blank page and what will be written in it rests in the hands of the child's hand that symbolizes the society of the future.

In the left corner of the Medborgarhuset's facade, you will find Forward, two dogs in bent sheet metal running at full speed towards the future.
