Description

The summer scenes in Braås park feel almost like somewhere in southern Europe. Oak, elm and hazel trees give way to pastures with silver-washed fritillaries butterflies and common blues. The songs of redstarts, European pied flycatchers and wood warblers resound. Flowers here include pasqueflower, cowslip, mountain arnica and cat’s foot. History and human actions have formed this area, from the fields of the 17th century and the English gardens of 18th century to today’s pleasant mix of landscapes. Even the Ice Age has left its traces in the form of the Braåsen boulder ridge. Along the shores of Lake Örken, you can find red-breasted mergansers, ospreys and the common sandpiper. This nature reserve is also the only place in the county where you can find the small scabious mining bee. This is a hiking trail that is connected to the blue-marked nature trail in Braås Park.
