Description

Storasjöområdet translates to Big lake area and it really is a big area with lakes! This nature reserve is one of the region’s biggest reserves and it’s about 1400 hectares big.

Storasjöområdet’s nature reserve with its swamps and mires really feels like a wilderness. The forests are around 200 years old and it is almost untouched. Analysis has shown that there have been recurrent wildfires the last 1300 years. During 1997 there was a controlled burning to favour specifik species that need fires to grow.
