Description

Jielkká-Rijmagåbbå is an over 370 square kilometres large nature reserve for those seeking magnificent experiences in vast mountain forest nature. Here you can hike in the deepest forests and take a ski trip on the marshes. The southern and central parts of the nature reserve are characterized by forested mountains with vast marshes in the valleys. In the north, the landscape is flatter.

In this area there are plenty of rare species and there are also many finds from ancient reindeer herding and hay-making. The area is still important for reindeer herding.

A popular excursion destination is the aircraft wreck Easy Elsie. The British bombing aircraft landed on the marsh Gejnutjiegge in 1944. From road 819, just over 7 kilometers north of Porjus, there is a footpath about 2 km which leads to the aircraft wreck.
