Description

There is a teeming marshland rich in birdlife and flora with the busy E4 running right through it. In the reserve, there are the remains of hay barns and drying racks which bear witness to the marsh once having provided important haymaking land. The area is 1.8 square kilometres in size. Snowmobiling is only permitted on trails, and some bird hunting is forbidden. See the reserve regulations or contact the County Administrative Board.

There is a car parking space next to the E4.

The nature reserve lies halfway between Kalix and Haparanda, 25 kilometres from each community. From the village of Sangis you drive 4 kilometres eastwards on the E4, which cuts right through the nature reserve. There is an interpretive board at home car parking space on the north side the E4 and a little further away there is a door through the wildlife fence.

There is an information sign at a parking bay on the north side of the E4, and a door through the game fence is a short distance away.

All regulations can be found in the reserve decision. It is allowed to:

camping
hike
make a fire, remember to bring your own firewood!
drive snowmobiles on marked trails and well-snow-covered ground
pick berries and mushrooms
