Description

The nature reserve Sjaunja/Sjávnja is as big as the County of Blekinge and is Sweden's third-largest nature reserve. Since 1996 it has been part of the Laponia World Heritage Site. Down the ages, people here have been cursing mosquitoes and midges, they have trudged through mires, waded over streams, jumped over logs and rocks. But those who take up the challenge also discover the heart of the wilderness. The tranquillity, the calm and the spellbinding beauty – nature in Sjaunja is in a class of its own. The area is 2,851 square kilometres and it is managed by Laponiatjuottjudus.
