Description

Storhuvudet has perhaps the largest variety of species of anywhere in Norrbotten County, and it lies near the centre of the main community of Boden. Here you find a veritable abundance of unusual birds, insects and plants. The landscape is hilly, and a beautiful view is guaranteed whoever climbs the exposed bedrock to any of the summits. In the lowlands between Storhuvudet and Klartjärnhuvudet runs Klartjärnbäcken stream through mires and small lakes. Below the west slope of Klartjärnhuvudet lies the small lake Klartjärnen. On the shore of the lake grows tall spruce forest where there are plenty of thick-growth aspens and old willows bearing the light green lichen Lungwort. The area is 7 square kilometres in size.
