Description

Svanahuvudet is a forested mountain with steep slopes in every direction. There are several summits, the highest of which reaches 352 metres a s l. At the top there is a rounded mountain plateau with small heights and a number of small mires. On Svanahuvudet, a spruce forest grows containing large numbers slow-growth old spruce. The forest is rich in hanging lichen. The area is 2.1 square kilometres in size.

Svanahuvudet lies between Svartlå and Sandträsk in Boden Municipality, about 13 kilometres east of Harads. Follow road 97 which runs between Boden and Jokkmokk. Just south of Svartlå a road heads eastwards towards Nybyn, follow it for about 8 kilometres before turnoff to the left onto a smaller road. When the road divides (after about 3.7 kilometres), bear right and follow the road to a turnaround at the southern foot of the mountain.
