Description
The primary pine forest on Västra Njaltaheden moorland offers the visitor and easy hike on the undulating moor. Most of the pine forest is young, but here and there you find truly ancient pines aged up to 500 years. On these old-timers you can see scars in the bark from several forest fires. The area is 1.9 square kilometres in size.

Communications
The reserve lies about 40 kilometres southeast of Arjeplog. The most suitable way in is from the south, from the E45, Inlandsvägen, at Avaviken and northwards on the road to Storbodsund. About 4 kilometres after Storbodsund you turn right on to a logging road which leads through the reserve and on to the nearby nature reserve Östra Njaltaheden.
Directions
Reservatet ligger cirka 40 kilometer sydost om Arjeplog. Lämpligaste tillfartsvägen till reservatet från allmän väg är söderifrån, från europaväg 45, Inlandsvägen, vid Avaviken och norrut på vägen till Storbodsund. Cirka 4 kilometer efter Storbodsund svänger man höger in på en skogsbilväg som leder genom reservatet och vidare till det närliggande naturreservatet Östra Njaltaheden.
