Idyllic Borensberg is located in the eastern part of Motala municipality by Motala stream and Göta Kanal. The town has good connections with both Motala and Linköping. In the central part of Borensberg, old buildings have been preserved. Here you will find, among others, Borensbergs Gästgiveri and Göta Hotell. Borensberg is also known for its lock, which was built in 1820 with a drop of 0.2 meters. The lock Niklas Agust is a single lock and the only one in Östergötland that is operated by hand. West of the drawbridge and south of the canal is the old lock keeper's cottage built in stone in the 1820s. Central you also find Borensberg's guest harbor with room for about twenty boats. In the inlet from Lake Boren there is a characteristic lighthouse and piers that were renovated in 1994.
