Description

Charring is a different process for producing charcoal by dry distillation. Different methods are: Carbonation in mila, charring in retort, charring in coal furnace, charring in pit. Kolarkoja (Charcoal hut) is the term for the temporary home that coal miners were often directed to during the charring work. When the coal hut was active, wall-mounted benches / sleeping places often ran along the long sides. The entrance usually faced the coal bottom itself, ie the site of the coal mile.
