Description

Kaninlandet is an open, sandy area between the two Hällestad ridges. The area was formerly used as an arable field but has been left fallow since the middle of the 1900s. In recent decades it has been managed to stop it becoming overgrown. The area is popular with insect enthusiasts - species such as scarce marbled moth, the bee Andrena chrysopyga and various burnet moths can be seen here. The vegetation is typical of dry, disturbed soils including dwarf everlasting, sheep’s bit scabious and breckland thyme.
