Tyrislöt badplats

At the end of 1997, an agreement was signed between the municipality of Söderköping and the local history society concerning a museum building at Tyrislöt. The local history society was responsible for rebuilding and maintenance and the municipality for the building itself. Construction started in January 1999 and continued without interruption until the inauguration. Skilled craftsmen in the association volunteered their time. Around 5,000 hours were spent on the project, including the selection and display of objects, as well as the production of texts and images.

The museum depicts the living conditions of the archipelago's inhabitants in the past and also provides outlooks and information about today's opportunities to live and work in the archipelago. The main theme is of course fishing. Commercial boats such as rowing boats, sailboats and seine boats are shown as well as different fishing methods. There are also stories about seabird hunting and other fishing methods. The simple tools of archipelago agriculture, the shed and kitchen are also on display. A boathouse and a "sköve" have been built inside the premises to enhance the experience. There are also stories about ships and utility boats and the boats that carried goods and passengers. A pictorial material also shows everyday work in the archipelago.

More recently, a wheelhouse with a threshing floor and a coal engine have been restored and displayed in a separate building. On Tornberget behind the museum, where there were air surveillance towers during the war years, there are now a number of utility boats on display.

Parking is available about 400 m from the bathing area.
