Description

The Karlsdalsmossen nature reserve encompasses a large continuous natural area of forests and wetlands. Here, you can find swamps, open wetlands, bogs and fens with old trees and lots of dead wood.

Some of the oldest pine trees in the Roslagen region are found here around Lake Långsjön. Within these old forests, you may see rare fungi, hack marks from the Eurasian three-toed woodpecker or hear the call of the black woodpecker.

There are no facilities for visitors.

Directions

The reserve is located about 15 km north-west of Norrtälje. The western parts of the reserve are located 1 km north of the summer cottages at Koludden, by the northern shore of Lake Erken.

There is no designated visitor parking lot.

In order to protect the Karlsdalsmossen nature reserve, please respect the following rules.

Within the reserve, it is forbidden to:

  1. drill, cut, blast, carve, dig, paint or in any other way damage rock, soil or stone,
  2. break branches, fell or in any other way damage living or dead trees and bushes,
  3. dig up plants such as shrubs, herbaceous plants, grasses or remove lichens, mosses or fungi growing on wood,
  4. put up a message board, placard, poster, sign or make inscriptions,
