Description
In the Kornamossen nature reserve, you'll walk over bogs, through forests and along open water. There are several different types of wetlands here. Several interesting sphagnum mosses grow on the bog, as well as the country's smallest orchid—the bog orchid. Other orchids, such as early marsh-orchid, broad-leaved marsh orchid and marsh helleborine, also grow here. The dwarfed, crooked pines and hare's-tail cottongrass growing on the bog are reminiscent of northern Sweden.
A trail loop takes you through the reserve's varied nature; follow the trail along a raised wooden walkway and take in the scent of wild rosemary. On spring evenings, you may hear the whistling of an Eurasian pygmy owl or the hooting of an Ural owl. To the west, there is a picnic area with a grill and wild swimming spots at Lake Kornan.
The nature reserve is not wheelchair accessible. The terrain is hilly and the ground can be extremely wet. Raised wooden walkways take you over the wettest parts but waterproof shoes are recommended.
