Description
The trail takes you to the lesser known parts of the nature reserve. Start from the self-closing gate below the long side of the parking lot. Follow the orange trail markings. The path leads through deciduous and pine forest, partly on the old country road, which you can probably see. Further out between the islands Kläppen, Grässkär and Koön, the ground becomes marshy. There are paths, but parts of the year it will be very wet in some parts. Boots are recommended.
Out on Koön there is a beautiful forest and inviting cliffs along the water.
As the names suggest, Koön and Grässkär have long been used for grazing and fodder. This is still the case: the entire reserve is grazed by cows. Keep your distance and keep your dog on a leash.

Directions
By bus: Take the bus from Handenterminalen (Haninge center) towards Dalarö - get off at the Svärdsnäsviken stop, or Sandemar if you are going to the marshes in the reserve. These stops are right next to the reserve. Current bus routes and timetables can be found at SL: sl.se
By car: Take the exit towards Dalarö from the highway (road 73). Continue about 15 km towards Dalarö and turn right into the parking lot at the sign "Naturreservat Sandemar". To get to the marshes, continue along Dalarövägen for another two kilometers (past the castle and the gravel pit) and turn right onto a small unmarked road just after the gravel pit. From the small parking lot here, you can follow a path down to the beach and the marshes.
Regulations
To protect Sandemar Nature Reserve, there are rules you must follow.
In the reserve it is forbidden to
- during the period March 1 - August 31, enter the bird protection area marked on the map in Appendix 1 of the decision
- throughout the year, drive a boat or other vessel on water within the part of Svärdsnäsviken marked on the map
- destroy or damage rock, soil or stone by drilling, hacking, blasting, grating, digging, painting or similar
- break branches, fell or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs or otherwise damage vegetation by digging up plants such as rice, herbs, mosses or lichens or removing woody fungi
- disturbing wildlife (e.g. by climbing nest trees, trapping or killing mammals, birds, reptiles or amphibians)
- bringing an unleashed dog
- camping for more than two consecutive days
- make a fire other than in a designated place
- set up a caravan or boat
- put up a board, poster, poster, sign or make an inscription
- drive a motorized vehicle or ride a bicycle in the terrain.
Regulations 1 and 2 do not apply to the landowner and his people, state or municipal officials in the performance of their duties or staff who manage the area on behalf of the nature conservation manager.
