Bike package, Visit the surreal Båstnäs Car Cemetery
Images
Töcksfors and the charming Turistgården youth hostel are close to the border with Norway. This is the start of the first Swedish leg of the national Unionsleden cycle trail. If you take a turn off from Unionsleden at about the 10 km mark, a perfect day long outing, and a 40 km round trip, this will take you to the surreal and hot topic of conversation in Sweden, Båstnäs Car Cemetery. The ride there takes your through an undulating landscape, past the beautiful Lake Foxen where you can even go for a refreshing swim. Round off the day by hiring a rowing boat, or cycle from your accommodation to the much praised Waterside restaurant on the opposite side of Lake Töck. There you can enjoy a three-course meal as the sun slowly sets over the lake.
Day 1
Arrive at Turistgården, check in and securely store your bike. You can eat at the restaurant or go to one of the large shopping centres nearby.
Day 2
Enjoy a substantial buffet breakfast to charge your batteries ahead of your first day in the saddle. Collect your lunch packed in a mini cooler bag in a small backpack. Join the trail outside the hostel and head southwards. The landscape around Västra Fågelvik is stunningly beautiful. If you want to take a break, we can recommend coffee or ice cream at the summer café. At about the 10 km point, there is a sign showing where to turn off for the car cemetery. When you reach Båstnäs and you are ready to eat, we suggest you cycle down to the steamboat jetty and attack your packed lunch.
Once you have returned to your accommodation late in the day, head for a delightful food experience at the Waterside restaurant.
Day 3
After a good night’s sleep, tuck into breakfast before you check out.
