Description

This short section is mostly on roads through nature reserve Skokloster. You’ll start at Skokloster Castle, one of Europe’s foremost baroque palaces, and finish in Sånka on the other side of the Skohalvön Peninsula. The beginning of the trail and the section information board are close to the southern tower of the castle, which faces the water. From there, follow the castle park’s southern edge, until you meet the gravel road where the trail markings begin. Small roads will now take you past pastures and cottages, and further through the forest. You’ll pass Mount Håberget, which was a lone island in the sea 7,000 years ago. At the top is a hill fort and a shingle field. Where the trail splits, you’ll follow the arrow straight ahead, walk 31:1 is to the left. After a couple of kilometres, the country road turns into a gravel road that takes you to the end of the Section. At Sånka is Skokloster’s campsite with a beach and a restaurant.

Difficulty level: Medium, forest roads for cars and paths.
