Description

On the northern side of the Stor-Bjurselliden mountain, the spruce forest is really old – many of the spruces are more than 200 years old.

The old trees have been allowed to remain. Individual trees have been chopped down, but extensive felling has never been conducted here. There are many dead spruces on the ground, some of which are now being broken down by rare fungi. Thick aspens and sallows are common. With a little luck, you might smell your way to the protected Haploporus odorus, whose strong anise aroma can be detected from a long way away. The Haploporus odorus prefers growing on old sallows.
