North of the river Alsterån is there a couple of villages that belongs to the old Småland. There are several Natura 2000 areas and if you visit the villages you’ll soon see why. It really feels like an idyll with the many pollared trees, open meadows with buzzing bees, stone walls, and red houses.
Several of the meadows has high biological values and if you’re lucky can you find rare flowers, insects, and mushrooms.
We recommend that you explore the area by foot or bike. The roads are mostly smaller gravel roads that are very suitable for biking. Bear in mind that you're a guest in the village! Respect private land and be careful when you enter pastures with animals. Remember the rules of the Sweden’s Right of Public Access: you're free to roam just about anywhere in the countryside (except private gardens and such likes) as long as you don’t disturb or destroy anything.
