Most water taps are closed during the period 1/11 - 15/4. This is because of the risk of pipes freezing. However, nature's water reserves are well stocked during that period.

Kuvaus

Stage 15 is part of the Munkastigen pilgrim’s trail, where you follow in the footsteps of the monks along the Kråksjöåsen boulder ridge, the route taken during the Middle Ages if you wanted to make your way to Olshammar. On one side of the ridge is Närke and on the other side is Västergötland. Altarstenen is reputed to be where the monks stopped to rest and pray. At Grytsjön there are several places where you can take time out to catch your breath and perhaps go for a swim. The resting place for the stage is located beside the beautiful Lake Kråksjön, with a wind shelter, fireplace and toilet. Gråmon also has a wind shelter, fireplace and toilet. STF has declared Stages 15-17 to be a signature trail with its abundance of natural features typical of the region, along with spectacular countryside and wildlife experiences.

Fresh water:

There is a water tap on the red house adjacent to Ramundeboda, by the parking lot. Connected during the café season 1/5-31/8. 6 km south there is a cold spring at Långsmon. At Sjömon, water is offered at a house you pass. A Trail angel who provides drinking water, which we thank you for. Gråmon, stage destination & resting place, has a cold spring a bit from the windbreak.

Transportation:

There are daily buses to Ramundeboda via Laxå. Gråmon can be reached with Närtrafik from Askersund or Laxå. Pick-up is at the crossroads, a couple of hundred meters south of the rest area, where Bergslagsleden turns east.

Forest road and forest path.

To Ramundeboda there are daily buses via Laxå to Finnerödja. From Askersund there are daily buses to Olshammar, where you can walk on the Monka trail which is south of Gråmon. www.lanstrafiken.se
