The reserve has spread attacks by granbark borer. That means there are a lot of dead standing spruces in the woods and along the paths.
The neighbors can fall suddenly and without warning. Keep an eye out and avoid visiting the reserve when it blows!
Kuvaus
A uniquely diverse collection of wildflowers, including many of the most beautiful orchids in Sweden, can be found around the tiny lake of Lövfjärden. In early June, you can experience the rare and spectacular flowers of the lady's-slipper orchid in the forests south of the lake. Explore the area from the trail that takes you through the reserve. Bird's eye primrose grows in the calcareous fens east of Lake Lövfjärden.
Up until the early 1900s, this area was grazed in the summertime by livestock that were moved seasonally between summer and winter pastures—a type of pastoralism typically associated with northern Sweden. Cattle and goats from the neighbouring villages were brought here to graze and for the production of butter and cheese during the summer months.
All orchids are protected by Swedish law. Enjoy them in the park and feel free to take photos. However, you are not allowed to pick the flowers or damage the plants.
