The County Administrative Board advises visitors to enter the nature reserve. Killing spruces can fall suddenly and without warning. Due to the risk of accidents, the path is turned off until further notice and will not be maintained.
This reserve has been subjected to extensive attacks by granbark drillers. Many spruces have died and eventually they will fall. Granbark drills attack live grenades and then leave the trees. The dead trees do not contain any granules. However, dead trees are important to many other animals, mosses and lichens, who live in the woods. In the reserve, the dead trees are left for the sake of biodiversity.
Kuvaus
Welcome to the Slätmossen-Borgberget nature reserve, which you can get to from the Sörmlandsleden trail. In Borgberget, you can follow a hiking trail up to the ruins of an ancient hillfort and enjoy the view.
The reserve encompasses a patchwork of coniferous forests and wetlands. The area is relatively unaffected by forestry, and the botanically inclined can find several endangered species of lichens here.
