Natuurgebied
Gö is a popular outdoor recreation area for days out, walking and swimming. It is also a haven for many plants and animals. Grazing animals have created a varied broadleaf woodland with glades and large trees.
The name Gö is first mentioned in King Waldemar’s land register of 1241 and refers to the village on the eastern side of the headland on the road to the Gö headland. A number of ancient monuments from different periods show a human presence in the area dating back centuries. A large Iron Age grave field is located on Nötanabben.
Over a long period of time, grazing animals have created a varied broadleaf woodland with glades and large trees. The Natterer’s bat, one of several rare bat species found here, hunts at night.
Complete rules for the nature reserve are shown in the link below, but, for example, you are not allowed to pitch a tent for more than one night or park a caravan or camper van, light fires, use a spirit stove or disposable barbecues other than in an area provided for the purpose or drive vessels propelled by water jets in areas marked on the chart as shallower than 3 metres (= within the 3-metre curve on the chart) and dogs must be kept on a lead.
