Beschermde natuur
Hjalmar Sterns Park was created in 1926 when a four-hectare area of beechwoods was donated to the town of Sölvesborg by Amy Rosin. She chose to name the park after her friend Hjalmar Stern, whose name is carved into three stones in the park. The idea behind the donation was to give the population of Sölvesborg access to the beautiful landscape and preserve the beauty of the area for generations to come. The top of the park is known as Klinta and offers excellent views over the water of Valjeviken, especially in the spring before the trees are in leaf. There are also visible remains of an old mill here. The original coast road also passes outside the park. In the seventeenth century it was upgraded to a carriage road, known as “Via regia” used by past kings when travelling through Sweden. If you are heading into the centre of Sölvesborg, grab the opportunity of eating at the lovely Italian restaurant Salvatores med Påhlssons. Source: solvesborgochlister.se and blekingemuseum.se
