Smedjebacken - Ludvika, Romboleden Etapp 7

A pleasant and easily walked stage. You walk between the two towns of Smedjebacken and Ludvika, where the route runs along streets among the houses. For the rest of the stage, you will follow gravel roads through lovely landscapes. You can easily cycle instead of walking.

Flogbergets mine is high up. Enjoy the view from here, have a “fika” at the café or join a guided tour. The mine has a long history and visitors can see the open cast mine and go underground.

Norrbärke church in Smedjebacken is from the 15th century but was rebuilt in the 17th century. Ludvika Ulrika church is formed like a cross and is from the 18th century and is similar to the nearby manor house.

The stage starts at Norrbärke church and continues via central Smedjebacken to Morgårdshammar. The stage then follows scenic roads past the Flogberget mines. After Flogberget you walk on towards Ludvika via Norsbro. The stage ends at Ludvika Ulrika church.

Along the stage there are great opportunities to take a break, find a spot for camping or just enjoy your packed lunch.

The stage is wheelchair accessible in central Smedjebacken from Norrbärke church to Morgårdshammar.

Walk in the footsteps of the pilgrims

Romboleden (Rombo Way) is a pilgrimage route that people began using in the 11th century. The Romboleden is Sweden’s longest pilgrimage route at 900 kilometres long. It starts in Köping in Västmanland and finishes in Trondheim on the Norwegian Atlantic coast. If you walk the entire trail, you will experience a beautiful and varied landscape. You will walk on old chalet paths, over mountains with magnificent vistas and along narrow country gravel roads. You will find easy one-day walks with cafés along the way, and long treks that take several days. The route often passes through small villages.
