This 12km trail offers information about the nature and cultural historical sites you pass by. A magnificent experience awaits on the ridges between the small and large Skärshult lakes.
Welcome to the exciting, rugged forests of Småland. A forest that, in the past, served as a refuge for outlaws and fugitives, but also became a home and shelter for the local farmers during times of unrest. The population often had to endure great hardships, as the national border to Denmark for a long time ran along what is now the provincial border between Småland and Halland. If you're very attentive, you may come across the forest’s little creatures, such as gnomes and trolls. In the rushing stream, you might hear the seductive music of the Näcken (a mythical water spirit), and in the dark old forest, the Skogsrå (the forest queen) may try to make contact with younger men. But be cautious, don’t be deceived!
A freshwater bathing spot in western Sweden’s first wilderness, located in a beautiful forest environment. The bathing area is accessible, with a sandy beach and dock. There are also overnight options at the campsite, which has cabins available.
Here you will find toilets, fishing opportunities, barbecue spots, and a combined café/kiosk/second-hand shop that also offers simple lunches.
