STF Vadstena Vandrarhem

The building, which was previously an old people’s home, has been a hostel for around 25 years and has been managed since 1983 by Carina Lilja-Petersson. The hostel has a total of 65 beds in 17 rooms. Sinks are provided in the rooms and showers and toilets in the corridor. There is also a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, a TV room and access to a laundry room.

Vadstena is a tiny town with a tiny core with narrow streets and small houses. Storgatan from Rådhustorget to Rödtornet is filled with shops, restaurants and cafés. From Rödtornet, you can make your way past the old theatre and the herb garden down to the shore of Lake Vättern. That is where you will find the Abbey and the magnificent Abbey church, built according to the directions of St. Bridget and inaugurated in 1430 – definitely worth a look. Right next to it is the Bjälboätten palace hosting the Abbey museum where you can get a glimpse of how the nuns lived in the 14th century.

Take a bit of a detour from Vadstena and visit the Göta Kanal, or else, take a detour from the Göta kanal and visit Vadstena!

The Vadstena Golf Club, just outside town, offers a variable park and forest course with 18 holes and everything else a golfer could need. The course is ready for play early in the year and the season extends well into the autumn.
