Momenteel

Trees in this nature reserve have been affected by spruce bark beetles. There are many dead standing spruces in the forest and along paths. The spruces may fall suddenly and without warning. Watch out and avoid visiting the nature reserve when it is windy.

Omschrijving

In the Hasselhorn nature reserve, you can walk beside huge boulders, through lush open groves and coniferous forests with tree trunks covered in moss. In the western part of the reserve, there are gigantic oak, ash, wych elm and linden trees around the Aspö cottage. In the eastern part of the reserve, you can follow a hiking trail along the shores of Lake Erken. Take a swim or a rest at one of the picnic areas.

Many rare species inhabit the reserve. Rare butterflies such as the white-letter hairstreak, as well as a number of rare fungi, lichens and grasses can be found here.

A license is required to fish in the lake. See [this website for details (in Swedish)] (https://www.fiskekort.se/norrtaljesf/).
